One ownership – shared direction

The family's highest priority is preserving its unity. Considerable time is therefore devoted to reflecting on and strengthening the foundations of owning together through Aars. In this way, the family continues its tradition of active ownership and value creation across generations.

The family's approach to ownership is guided by shared, long-term ownership principles, rooted in the values that define our ownership. These principles provide direction for Aars' strategy and form the basis for how the company develops, safeguards and manages the family's interests over time.

Owner vision and strategy

Over the past decade, the businesses within the family's ownership have experienced strong growth and significant value creation. As Aars celebrated its tenth anniversary in 2024, the owners initiated a review of both the existing ownership principles and the company's long-term strategy. The process continued throughout 2025 and evolved into a broad strategic review involving the Board, management and owners, working together to define the future direction of the family ownership.

As part of this work, our values were revisited, a shared owner vision was developed, and our financial ownership principles were refined. The outcome is a new strategy with ambitious goals: by 2035, we aim to double the value of the family's ownership through active, responsible and long-term ownership. The process has also resulted in clearer return expectations and financial targets for Aars' different business areas.

As part of the strategy process, the owners also agreed on a shared owner vision:

We exercise ownership in a way that creates value for ourselves and society. This means actively seeking out and realising potential. When making investments, we expect growth to contribute positively to society and to people's lives.

Aars is built on commercial decision-making, guided by values and with our owner vision serving as a compass. It provides direction for our priorities and is intended to be an integrated part of how we operate. Our commitment to labour market inclusion is an important part of delivering on this vision.

Active, long-term family ownership

At Aars, we place great emphasis on professional management, disciplined risk management and sustainable diversification of our ownership from a long-term perspective. We strive to be an active and responsible owner, committed to building successful, well-managed companies.

At the same time, we have a clear ambition to create value beyond financial returns through responsible business practices, attractive workplaces and positive contributions to the communities in which our companies operate. Aars also has an important role in creating meeting places and shared arenas that strengthen collaboration across both the family and our companies. We are equally committed to preparing future generations for their role as owners by providing opportunities to learn, develop and become actively involved.

Engagement and participation are essential to maintaining a dynamic and sustainable family ownership model - one that is well equipped to meet the opportunities and challenges of the future.

Ownership based on choice

The ownership model at Aars is built on two fundamental principles. First, the company will remain wholly owned by the family. Second, ownership is based on voluntary participation for every family member. This principle means that any shareholder may choose to exit the ownership structure and receive fair market value for their shares, in accordance with the agreed shareholders' agreement.

Both ownership principles and the shareholders' agreement provide predictability for Aars while supporting stable, long-term family ownership across generations.
